Ann Burns

Vice Principal

Ann Burns is a wife, mother of one daughter and three sons, and grandmother of three adorable grandchildren. Along with loving stories, she enjoys running and swimming. Over the past 10 years, she has completed two full marathons and about a dozen half marathons; she hopes to keep this up for a long time!

Mrs. Burns earned her B.A. in English from Grand Canyon University and her M.Ed. in Reading from Arizona State University. She taught 8th grade Language Arts in Arizona and then became an adjunct instructor of English, Education, and Humanities for Rio Salado College. When her family moved to Indiana and then to Connecticut for her husband’s work, she was able to continue teaching online and did this for 15 years.

She and her family moved to Idaho in 2019. After five wonderful years teaching English Language Arts at Alturas Preparatory Academy, she’s stepping into a new role as vice principal. While she’ll truly miss the joy of teaching and the daily connections in the classroom, she’s excited for this next chapter—one where she can support students in new ways and continue helping them grow, learn, and find their path forward.
