Alturas Child Find Notice
Alturas is responsible for locating, identifying, and referring all children ages 5–21 who are enrolled in our schools and are suspected of having a disability. This responsibility is part of our commitment to ensuring that every student has equitable access to high-quality instruction and a supportive learning environment.
If you suspect that your child may have a disability, we encourage you to reach out. A child who is experiencing significant difficulty with vision, hearing, speech, behavior, learning, physical development, or who is demonstrating slower progress than typically expected for their age may be a child with a disability. Early identification and intervention are essential in supporting long-term school success.
For children ages 3–5, developmental screenings are conducted by your local school district. Families should contact their district’s special services department to initiate that process. If you need assistance connecting with the appropriate district office, please contact Sarah Browning at 208-932-9440.
Consistent with our Child Find responsibilities and problem-solving approach, Alturas works collaboratively with families, educators, and specialists to evaluate student needs and determine appropriate interventions, accommodations, and services. Through coordinated Special Education and Section 504 support, we address each learner’s academic, social-emotional, and functional development. Our goal is to remove barriers, uphold the rights of students with disabilities, and ensure every student can fully participate in the instructional model and educational opportunities offered at Alturas.
