Sarah Browning
Director of Special Education
Sarah Browning grew up in Shelley, Idaho. She married her high school sweetheart, Jerod, and together they are raising two daughters who are each pursuing their own exciting paths. Lily is graduating from Montana State University this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Paleontology and is currently applying to graduate programs to continue her studies. Tessa is a sophomore at Utah State University majoring in Political Science with a Spanish minor, and she will soon embark on a study abroad program in Chile.
A passionate reader, Mrs. Browning gravitates toward historical fiction, enjoys fast-paced thrillers, and often turns to thought-provoking nonfiction. She also enjoys listening to alternative indie music, catching the latest film at the theater, eating at her favorite restaurant, Tacos Las Peñitas, and spending time outdoors camping, fishing, or watching a good baseball game.
For over 15 years, she dedicated her time to volunteering with the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, an experience that shaped her leadership and community service philosophy. Though no longer active, the lessons and connections from that work continue to influence her commitment to helping young people grow and thrive.
She earned her degree from Idaho State University and has taught Special Education across grades K–12. Now in her 19th year as an educator, Mrs. Browning brings energy, compassion, and experience to her work at Alturas Academy, where she is proud to be part of a team devoted to student success.
